Add a remote MCP

If you already have an MCP server, connect it by its URL. Its tools are read from the server.

Before you start​

Have the server's URL and any credentials it needs.

Steps​

  1. In MCP Builder, select Create MCP.
  2. Select Add Remote MCP. The Add Remote MCP dialog opens.
  3. In Name, enter a name, for example MyMcpServer.
  4. In Server URL, enter the server's URL.
  5. Choose the Scope and, for Account scope, the Access.
  6. Optional: add tags.
  7. In Auth Type, select No Auth, Token / Bearer, API Key, Basic Auth or OAuth, and fill in its fields. For Token / Bearer, enter the Bearer Token.
  8. Optional: under Headers, select + Add Header to add headers.
  9. Optional: select Test Connection.
  10. Select Connect.
  11. Select Add MCP, or Create MCPs if the server's tools are split into several MCPs.

To add a ready-made connector instead, select Import from Library. See Add an MCP from the Library.

Troubleshooting​

  • Name is required., Server URL is required. or Bearer token is required. fill in the field.
  • Could not reach the MCP server: check the URL is correct and publicly reachable.
  • Some MCPs were not created: check which MCPs are missing from the list and try again.
