Agent Chat
Agent Chat is where you have conversations in AI Studio. You can chat directly with an AI model, with one of your agents, or with a swarm of agents.
Open Agent Chat
- In AI Studio, open the Agent Ops menu.
- Select Agent Chat.
Chat modes
When you start a new chat, you choose one of three modes:
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Model Chat | Direct conversation with the latest AI models. |
| Agent Chat | Talk to your custom agents. |
| Swarm Chat | Set a team of agents on one problem. |

The side rail
The rail on the left has:
- New chat: start a new conversation.
- Chats: show or hide your chat history. See Manage your chats.
- Projects: your projects.
- Discover: a news feed you can research with AI. See Discover.
- Artifacts: files and outputs from your chats.
- Logs: logs of your chats.
- Automations: your automated chats. See Automate a chat.
Use Search chats… to find a past conversation. Your history is grouped into Pinned and Recent. Select Load more to see older chats.
Select the collapse control to collapse or expand the rail.
