Automate a chat

Automate a chat to ask the same questions on a schedule and send the answers to people or channels.

Steps​

  1. In Agent Chat, select Automate Chat. The Automate this chat panel opens.
  2. In Automation Name, enter a name.
  3. In Target Mode, select Agent Chat or Model Chat.
  4. Select the Agent or Model to ask.
  5. In Frequency, select Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
  6. Set Time. The time zone is UTC. For a weekly automation, pick the Days. For a monthly one, pick the Date.
  7. Under Questions, enter a question and select Add. Repeat for each question.
  8. Optional: under Communication Emails, enter an email address and select Add. Repeat for each person.
  9. Optional: add your Google Chat, Slack or Teams webhook to post the answers there.
  10. Optional: choose MCP Servers to give the automation tools. The selected servers' tools are available to the model when the automation runs.
  11. Make sure Enabled is on.
  12. Select Create automation.

What happens next​

The message Automation "name" created. appears. You can find your automations under Automations on the Agent Chat rail.

Troubleshooting​

  • This question is already in the list. each question can be added once.
  • Enter a valid email address. check the address.
  • This email is already in the list. each address can be added once.
  • No MCP servers are available for this account. add a connector in MCP Builder.
  • Models from external providers can't run MCP tools. Choose another model if you need tools.
