Artifacts in Agent Chat
The Artifacts screen collects the files the AI created for you across your chats, such as code, documents, charts and spreadsheets. From here you can preview or download a file, or go back to the conversation that made it.
Open Artifacts
- In AI Studio, open the Agent Ops menu and select Agent Chat.
- On the side rail, select Artifacts.
The heading shows Artifacts and how many files you have.
Find a file
- Type in Search artifacts… to narrow the list.
- Use the sort menu to show Newest first, Oldest first, Name A–Z or Name Z–A.
- Select Grid view or List view to change the layout. List view is the default.
Each file shows its name and details such as its size and when it was created.
Open the conversation that made a file
Select the file's card or row. The conversation that created it opens.
Preview a file
- Select the view button (eye icon) on the file.
- The file opens in a preview pane beside the list.
In the preview pane you can:
- Switch between Preview and Code, for files that have both.
- Copy the file's source.
- Select Download to save the file.
- Select Close to close the pane.
Some file types can't be previewed. For these, you see No inline preview for this file type. Use Download.
Download a file
Select the download button on the file. The file opens in a new tab or downloads, depending on your browser.
Delete a file
- Select the delete button (bin icon) on the file.
- In the Delete this artifact? dialog, select Delete. Select Cancel to keep the file.
Deleting removes the file permanently, including the stored copy. This can't be undone.
Delete several files
- Select Select. A checkbox appears on each file.
- Select the files you want to delete. Select Clear selection to start again.
- Select Delete selected.
- In the dialog, check how many files will be deleted, then select Delete.
Select Select again, or press Escape, to leave select mode.
Troubleshooting
- No artifacts yet: the AI hasn't created any files for you yet. Select Start a chat and ask for a file, such as a document or a spreadsheet.
- No matching artifacts: nothing matches your search. Try a different term, or select Clear search.
- Some artifacts could not be deleted: some files were deleted and the rest are still listed. Try again. If it keeps failing, contact support.
