Attach files and tools

Give the AI more to work with by attaching files, turning on connector tools, or speaking your question.

Attach files

  1. In the message box, select Attach file.
  2. Choose one or more files.
  3. Wait for each file to finish Uploading….
  4. Send your message.

You can also paste an image into the message box, or drop files onto the chat panel. To cancel an upload, select the cancel control on its chip.

If you send while a file is still uploading, the message sends as soon as the upload finishes.

Supported files

  • Supported files: PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, TXT, Markdown, JSON, HTML, images, and Pages, Numbers and Keynote files.
  • Each file can be up to 10 MB.
  • PowerPoint files (.pptx) aren't supported. Save the deck as a PDF and attach that.
  • In agent and swarm chats, you can attach 10 or fewer files per message, and they must total 2.5 MB or less.

Turn on connector tools

Connectors (MCPs) give the AI tools, such as web search.

  1. In the message box, open the MCP picker. It shows how many MCPs are on.
  2. Turn on the connectors you want. Type in Search to find a connector, or Search tools to find a tool.
  3. Use All and On to see all connectors or only the ones that are on.

Other controls in the picker:

  • Sort by Name A–Z, Name Z–A or Active first.
  • Clear all turns off every connector except web search.
  • Refresh the MCP list reloads the connectors.
  • Manage connectors opens MCP Builder. See MCP Builder.

Use voice input

  1. Select Voice input.
  2. Speak your question.

Voice input works only in browsers that support it.

Use training mode

In an agent chat, turn on Training Mode to save the conversation as shared organisation knowledge, with personal details removed.

If you have older agent memory, you may be asked whether to move it into your own memory. Select Yes to move it or No to keep the existing memory.

Troubleshooting

  • These attachments are too large to send together. you can send up to 10 MB at a time. Remove a file and try again.
  • If a file has no file extension, rename it with an extension such as .csv or .pdf and try again.
  • Upload timed out. or Upload failed. attach the file again.
  • That attachment isn't available. Upload the file again. attach the file again.
  • No MCP matches that name. check the connector name, or add one in MCP Builder.
  • Voice input is not supported in this browser. type your question, or use another browser.
