Clone an agent

Clone an agent to make a new agent from an existing one. The original agent stays as it is.

Before you start​

Only the agent's creator can clone a private agent.

Steps​

  1. On the Agents screen, select the agent's name to open its details.
  2. Open the Actions menu.
  3. Under Distribute, select Clone agent. The Clone agent? dialog opens.
  4. In Name for the new agent, keep the suggested name or type a new one. The suggested name is the original name followed by _clone. Use letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens only.
  5. Select Clone.

Select Cancel to close the dialog without cloning.

What happens next​

You go to the Agents list when the new agent is ready, and the message Agent cloned successfully. appears.

For some agents, cloning also recreates the agent's connected resources, so it may take a moment.

Troubleshooting​

If the name can't be used, the dialog stays open with the reason under the name. Common reasons:

  • The name is already in use. Choose another name.
  • The name has characters that aren't allowed. Use letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens only.

If you're told only the agent's creator can clone it, the agent is private. Ask its creator to clone it, or to share it with you.
