Edit an MCP

Change an MCP's connection details, credentials or the tools it exposes.

Before you start

You can edit an MCP if you own it, or if it is shared with your organisation with full access. Only the owner can change its scope.

Steps

  1. In MCP Builder, open the actions menu on the MCP.
  2. Select Edit. The Edit name panel opens.
  3. Under MCP Information, change the name, description, Base URL or tags as needed.
  4. Tick or untick Enabled — agents can call this MCP.
  5. Under authentication, change the auth type or credentials.
  6. Under client settings, change Timeout (e.g. 30s), User-Agent, Proxy URL or Custom headers.
  7. Under Tools, tick the tools to expose. To refresh the list from the API, change the Base URL and select Auto-discover, or select Upload spec.
  8. Optional: select Test Connection. See Test an MCP connection.
  9. Select Save changes.

If you changed the Base URL, the Change Base URL? dialog asks you to confirm. Changing the URL may affect how existing tools run. Select Continue to keep the change.

Edit a group

A group holds no connection of its own. The base URL, credentials and tools belong to the MCPs inside it.

  1. In MCP Builder, open the actions menu on the group.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Change the Name or Description.
  4. Select Save.
