Test an MCP connection

Use Test Connection to check that ScoutIT AI can reach an MCP and that its credentials are accepted.

Steps​

  1. Open the MCP form. This can be Create MCP, Add Remote MCP, the Library add dialog, or the edit panel.
  2. Fill in the URL and credentials.
  3. Select Test Connection.

Test Connection is hidden when the auth type is No Auth.

What happens next​

A message shows the result. Some results have a Details section you can expand.

When the test works, you see a message that starts Connection succeeded, for example saying how many tools were found.

Troubleshooting​

MessageFix
The server rejected the credentials (HTTP code). Check the auth type and secret.Check the auth type and credentials.
Could not reach the MCP server. Check the URL is correct and publicly reachable.Check the URL.
The MCP server did not respond in time.Try again later, or check the server.
No MCP endpoint was found at this URL (HTTP 404). Confirm the path exposes an MCP server.Check the path in the URL.
Save the connector and connect it via OAuth first, then test the connection.Save the MCP and complete OAuth sign-in, then test.
A base URL is required to test the connection.Enter the Base URL.
Too many connection tests in a short time. Wait a moment and try again.Wait, then test again.
