Manage services

A service groups one or more of your applications under a single name. Use the Manage Services screen to create services, keep them up to date and remove the ones you no longer need.

To open the screen, go to ManageIT → Manage Services.

Before you start​

  • The Applications list in the service form shows the applications that ScoutIT AI already knows about for your account. If you don't see an application there, add it first. See Manage apps.
  • Every service needs at least one application.

Find a service​

The Services panel shows how many services you have in total. Use the toolbar to narrow the list:

  • Tile view and List view switch between cards and a table.
  • The status filter shows All statuses, Active or Inactive services.
  • The sort menu orders services by Newest first, Oldest first, Name A → Z, Name Z → A or Active first.
  • Search services… matches text in the service name, its description and the names of its applications. The list updates as you type.

In tile view, each card shows the service's Status, Apps and Created date. Select a card to open the service.

In list view, the table shows Name, Status, Applications and Created. The Applications column shows up to three application names, then a chip such as "+2 more" for the rest. Use Rows per page (10, 25, 50 or 100) and Previous and Next to move through the pages.

Create a service​

  1. Select Create Service.
  2. In Basic Information, enter a Service Name. It can be up to 120 characters.
  3. Leave Active selected if the service should be active. New services are active by default.
  4. Optionally, enter a Description of up to 500 characters.
  5. In Applications, select each application the service should include. Selected tiles show a check mark, and the badge shows how many you've selected.
  6. To find an application quickly, type in Search applications….
  7. Select Create Service.

Edit a service​

  1. Select the service name, the service card, or the Edit service icon.
  2. On the Edit Service page, change the fields you need. Select an application tile again to remove it from the service.
  3. Select Save Changes.

To leave the form without saving, select Cancel.

Delete a service​

  1. Select the Delete service icon on the service's row or card.
  2. In Delete service?, check the service name.
  3. Select Delete service.

Deleting a service can't be undone. Policies, alerts and dashboards that refer to the service keep that reference until the next sync.

What happens next​

After you create or save a service, ScoutIT AI returns you to the Manage Services list, where the service appears. After you delete a service, you see Service deleted.

Service names don't have to be unique, so check the list before you create a service with a name that's already in use.
