Manage sources

Use Manage Sources to keep track of every data source that sends metrics to ScoutIT AI for your account. You add sources from the Source Catalog, then enter their connection details and choose which metrics to collect.

To open the screen, go to ManageIT → Manage Sources.

The sources list

The toolbar shows the number of sources registered for your account. You can change what the list shows:

  • Tile view and List view switch between cards and a table.
  • Search: type in the Search by name, type, or description box.
  • The status filter lets you choose All, Active or Inactive.

In list view, the table has the columns Source Name, Type, Status, Created, Updated and Actions. Each source's status is active or inactive. Tile view shows the same details on a card, with Created and Updated dates.

When there are more sources than fit on one page, use Previous and Next below the list.

The Manage ▾ menu links to Manage APIs and Manage Workflows.

Add a source from the Source Catalog

  1. Select Source Catalog.
  2. On Source Catalogues, find the source type you want. You can use Tile view or List view, and the Search source types box.
  3. Select one or more source types. Types you have already added show Already registered or registered, and can't be selected again.
  4. Select Add Selected Source.

ScoutIT AI returns you to the sources list. Each new source is added as inactive, so no metrics are collected until you edit it and turn it on.

To leave the catalog without adding anything, select Cancel or Back to Manage Sources.

Set up or edit a source

  1. In the sources list, select Edit on the source.
  2. On Edit Source, update the Description if you want. It can be up to 500 characters. The Source Name can't be changed.
  3. Fill in the connection fields for the source type, for example Server URL, Access Token, AppNeta Org ID, AppNeta Token, AWS Access Token or AWS Access Secret. The fields shown depend on the source type.
  4. For an AppNeta source, select Test beside the token field to check the connection. You see ✓ Connected or ✗ Failed. Hover over the result to read the details.
  5. If the source type has Products, select the products you want to collect from.
  6. Under Metrics, select the metrics to collect. For source types with products, pick one or more Products first. Only the metrics for the selected products appear.
  7. Select Active to start collecting metrics. When Active is off, no metrics are pulled from this source.
  8. Select Update Source.

To leave without saving, select Cancel.

Token fields are hidden as you type. Select Show token in the field to reveal the value.

Pause or activate a source

From the sources list, you can pause or activate a source without opening it:

  • Select Pause source to stop collecting metrics from an active source.
  • Select Activate source to start collecting from an inactive source.

Delete a source

  1. In the sources list, select Delete on the source.
  2. In the Delete Source window, select Delete.

Deleting a source unlinks every metric collected from it. Select Cancel to keep the source.

What happens next

After you select Update Source, ScoutIT AI returns you to the sources list with your changes saved. An active source starts sending the metrics you selected.
