Work in a project

When you open a project, you see its workspace: the project's conversations, its instructions and its knowledge files. Every chat you start here uses the project's instructions and knowledge. This page shows you how to use the workspace.

Before you start​

Open the project from the Projects tab. See Manage projects.

Find your way around​

The workspace shows:

  • The header. The project name, with Back to Projects on the left and the Project actions menu when you can change the project. Under the name are two tabs: Conversations and Tasks, each with a count. The project's status, Inactive if it isn't active, its Start and Finish dates and its tags appear here too.
  • The conversations. The project's chats, with the same row actions as the Chats tab.
  • Project knowledge. Instructions and Files, on the right.
  • The composer. At the bottom, for starting a new chat in the project.

To see the project's tasks, select Tasks. See Manage tasks.

Start a chat in the project​

  1. Type your question in the composer at the bottom of the workspace.
  2. Press Enter, or select Send message.

The chat is saved to the project. While you're in it, the top of the conversation reads Project: followed by the project name. Select it to go back to the project.

If the project has an assigned agent, the composer shows the agent's name and whether it is (running) or (not running), and the project shows (fixed by the project). You can't change the agent or project for that chat.

To save a useful reply to the project's knowledge, point at the reply and select Save to project.

Edit the instructions​

  1. Next to Instructions, select Edit instructions (the pencil).
  2. Change the text in Custom instructions.
  3. Select Save changes.

If there are no instructions yet, the card reads Add instructions to tailor responses in this project.

Add knowledge files​

  1. Next to Files, select the plus sign (Upload files to this project's knowledge base).
  2. Choose one or more files.

The files upload straight away and appear under Files.

Change or delete the project​

Open Project actions and choose:

  • Edit details to open Edit Project.
  • Create agent to create a private agent from the project. See Manage projects.
  • Delete to open Delete project. It asks you to confirm, because the project's chats and attached files are removed too. Select Delete project to confirm, or Cancel to keep it.

Troubleshooting​

  • No conversations yet. Ask something below to start one in this project. The project has no chats yet. Type a question in the composer.
  • The project says its agent cannot answer. The message names the agent and says it isn't active. Activate the agent to chat in the project. Select View agent to open it. If the message says the agent is starting up, try again in a moment.
