Alerts overview
ScoutIT AI raises an alert when a monitored value crosses a threshold set in an alert policy. This page explains how alerts work and which screen to use for each alerting task.
How alerts are raised
- An alert policy lists the metrics to watch, called monitors. Each monitor has a caution threshold and a danger threshold.
- The policy applies to all applications, to the applications you pick, or to a service.
- When a monitored value crosses a threshold, ScoutIT AI raises an alert.
- The alert is sent to the channels set in the policy: email, SMS, Slack or Google Chat.
To set this up, see Manage alert policies.
Caution and Danger
Every alert has one of two statuses:
- Caution means the value crossed the caution threshold.
- Danger means the value crossed the danger threshold.
Treat Danger alerts first. Use Caution alerts as an early warning.

A suggested workflow
- Open My Alerts and filter to the last 24 hours.
- Sort by Status and open the Danger alerts first.
- Check the affected path in My Cloud.
- Check whether the RPI Score moved in My Observability.
- Use Alert Summary to see whether the problem is limited to one application or monitoring point.
