Alert summary
Alert Summary gives you an aggregated view of your alerts. Use it to see where alerts are concentrated and whether alert volume is rising or falling.
Before you start
- Open MonitorIT → Alert Summary.
- To see individual alerts instead, use My Alerts.
Read the status strip
The strip at the top of the page shows:
- Total alerts for the summary window. The label shows the window.
- Caution, the number of caution alerts.
- Danger, the number of danger alerts.
Read the distribution charts
Three ring charts show how alerts are split:
- Alert Distribution by Applications
- Alert Distribution by Monitoring Points
- Alert Distribution by Metrics
Next to each chart, the legend lists each group with its alert count and its share of the total. The largest groups are shown on their own. Smaller groups are combined into Other. Point to a segment of the ring to see its name, count and percentage.
Filter the daily trend
The Metrics Distribution Statistics panel charts caution and danger alerts for each day.
- Choose an MP to chart one monitoring point, or keep All monitor points.
- Choose an Applications value to chart one application, or keep All applications.
- Choose a Metrics value to chart one metric, or keep All metrics.
- Choose a Time Range: Last 30 days, Last 14 days, Last 7 days or Last 24 hours. The default is Last 30 days.
- Point to a day on the chart to see its date, total, Caution count and Danger count.
Each option in the filters shows its alert count in brackets. An option marked (not charted) can't be selected, because there's no daily count to chart for it.
The label peak shows the highest daily total in the chart.
Find where to look first
The Top apps by danger panel ranks the applications with the most danger alerts. Each row shows the danger and caution counts, and a bar that splits the application's alerts between the two.
Troubleshooting
- No alerts to plot for the selected filters. No alerts match the trend filters. Set the filters back to their All options, or choose a longer Time Range.
- No data in a legend. There are no alerts in the summary window for that chart.
- No applications to rank. No application has alerts in the summary window.
