Slack webhook
You can send the alerts from an alert policy to a Slack channel. To do this, create an incoming webhook in Slack, then paste its URL into the policy.
Before you start
- You need permission in your Slack workspace to add an incoming webhook to a channel. If you don't have it, ask your Slack administrator.
- You need access to ManageIT → Manage Alert Policies.
Create the webhook in Slack
- In Slack, create the channel that should receive alerts, or choose an existing one.
- Add an incoming webhook for that channel. Slack's own help explains how to do this for your workspace.
- Copy the webhook URL that Slack gives you. It starts with
https://.
Keep the webhook URL private. Anyone who has it can post to your channel.
Add the webhook to an alert policy
- Open ManageIT → Manage Alert Policies.
- Select the policy name to edit it, or select Create Alert Policy.
- Under Communication, paste the URL into Slack Webhook.
- Select Send Test next to the field.
- Check the message under the field and in your Slack channel.
- Select Save Changes, or Create Policy for a new policy.
What happens next
When the test works, you see Slack webhook accepted the test message. and the channel receives the message Your webhook is verified. After you save, the policy's alerts are posted to that channel. Slack appears in the policy's Channels.
